LEGO is a Danish toy company founded in 1932 by Ole Kirk Kristiansen in Billund, Denmark. The company name comes from the Danish phrase “leg godt,” meaning “play well.” It began by producing wooden toys before transitioning to plastic toys in the late 1940s. In 1949, LEGO started developing interlocking bricks inspired by Kiddicraft's "Self-Locking Building Bricks". The rest, as they say, is history. Interestingly, both LEGO and Kiddicraft were founded in the same year, 1932.
